How are you a conduit for good?

In what ways are you generous? Have you ever considered that generosity flows through multiple avenues? Allow me to share four areas that may allow your generous intentions to shine through:

1. Time. When we give of our time to listen, talk, help, or to simply be present, we are exercising our generosity muscles. Now, there is nothing wrong with taking time for yourself. In fact, it is essential to well being. But sometimes, your best gift is time.

2. Energy. We all get tired from doing the things that we must do and that we choose to do. We all need to recharge. So, when you give of your energy by volunteering, teaching a class, serving on a board, lending your expertise, etc. your generosity blooms. Cooking and delivering a meal to someone who is sick requires energy. Offering encouragement over breakfast or lunch consumes emotional energy. And when you are generous with your energy, you should ultimately feel good!

3. Space. This is really about hospitality. You might share your home for overnight guests or small groups. You might lend some of your space (land, cabin, vacation home) in the world to someone who needs that respite. Be sure to set good expectations when you share your space, but know that you can be generous with your space. Someone else may need it.

4. Money. This, of course, is the first thing we think about when we think about generosity. And it is crucial because money is a powerful tool for good. Money can be currency for love, joy, and peace. Whether you offer a matching plan to help someone out of debt, give to a charity or nonprofit organization, give to your church, leave anonymous gifts for individuals, or create work opportunities for others, you can be generous with any amount of money.

By exercising your generosity, you will be a conduit for good!
