Crucial Principle Series #3

On your “A” game, this is the plan. All exclamation marks!

But, things happen. You get stressed, tired, and disillusioned sometimes. One of the primary indicators of stress arrives as you overhear yourself complaining, blaming, or giving excuses.

True, these unideal developments have occurred. True, someone else may very well be partially to blame. True, most people don’t want to hear it. With the exception of select confidants or allies, steer your words into the positive.

Live your life as an exclamation, not an explanation!

Focus on solutions more than problems. Highlight what is working, rather than what isn’t. Exert the mental and spiritual energy to pray for others, encourage others, and help others.

And when you do talk about your struggles, find the BUT. Everyone should have a BUT in their story. (Click to read this blog entry on Transcending Circumstances.) End your story with at least a glimmer of hope.

So, just start today. For this one day, listen to yourself. Where and how can you improve your habits of conversation? How can you live your life as an exclamation, not an explanation?

Worth Repeating

Focus on what you have and can do, rather than what you don’t have and can’t do.
