Quiet. No one else on the trail. Except for the rhythmic sound of the raindrops trickling down through the canopy of trees and the water rushing down the creek beside me, all was quiet. Finally, I was breathing and praying and listening.
After two hours of hiking and brooding at Chickasaw National Park in Sulphur, Oklahoma (where Oklahoma starts to look more like the Carolinas), I finally broke through the cloud of my own concerns and began receiving.
I prayed prayers of thanks. And then one of my prayers caught me by surprise. “Thank you, Creator God, for the good sense to walk in the rain.”
Well, I was. Rain jacket on. Bora hat shielding me from the elements.
Walking in the rain.
Walking with God.
Receiving peace.
Worth Repeating
God is the friend of silence.
