Have you ever fallen into a mental funk?

As in, you just keep repeating and rehearsing defeating messages, bad life stories, and discouraging sequences of events?

At some point, we are all prone to slip into the habit of bad self talk.

But, we must stop it! I realize that’s not therapeutically correct to say, or very easy to do. But, we must.

One solution requires us to intentionally gather good thoughts and use them to replace the bad ones.

For instance, you may think of quotes, scriptures, spiritual verses, songs, or mantras that you created. Then, repeat them over and over. Crowd out the defeating messages with affirming, hopeful messages. You might even find yourself whispering or mentally reciting a line of hope ten, twenty, or one hundred times in a row.

Will this fix the problem of bad self talk forever? No. Probably not.

But, it will change your thinking right now. Maybe even for the day. And if it works today, perhaps it could work again tomorrow.
