One week ago today, my daughter and I were at a Colorado Rockies baseball game. Our family was on the last day of a Colorado vacation/family visit which took us through Fort Collins, Estes Park, and Denver.

Settled in to our seats, enjoying the game, eating cracker jacks, hot dogs, and berry kabobs (not all at once), the experience was deeply satisfying.

But.

In about the 4th inning, I began to have some faint worries in the back of my mind. Attempting to shoo them away, I refocused on the game. This cycle continued for several innings.

Intermittent rain had us seeking dry cover a few times during these middle innings, and during one such rain shower, we decided to walk around the entire ballpark.

In left field, we stopped to watch the action. Much to our delight, we caught a full rainbow! No, wait. A double rainbow!

I’m pretty sure that most people interpret rainbows as a sign of hope, trust, and unexpected wonder from God. And that’s exactly how it hit me that night.

With vacation winding down and the concerns of real life about to resume, in fact already creeping into my mind, I got a wink. A double rainbow.

And I smiled. Because I know it’s going to be all right.

 Worth Repeating

Life is like a rainbow. You need both the sun and the rain to make its colors appear.
