We are all wired to love and connect, even the introverts!
She had been stung.
By life, not a bee. In fact, a bee sting might have been easier.
Through a series of unfortunate events, she realized one morning that she was isolated and lonely. In retrospect, it was all understandable.
She had cared for her husband, who had Alzheimer’s, for almost two decades. Along the way, she had retired from her work, and due to a cross-country move, her old support network became more distant.
Now in a season of aftercare, working through her grief, she admitted to herself that she was lonely. But in that confessional instant, she sensed another strong impression.
She was wired to love.
And so on that day, she re-engaged. She decided to make the first call, the first move with old friends, children, grandchildren, cousins, and a group of acquaintances with the promise of new friendship.
She admitted to me one Spring afternoon, “I decided that if I want friends, I need to be a friend. So, I am making the first move. I am wired to love and connect, even though I am an introvert.”
Pretty wise lady…with good advice for us all.
Worth Repeating
