Who’s on your list?
People are fascinating. Really. All of us are. Full of creativity, scars, stories, hope, backgrounds, and courage.
For 99% of people, I enjoy getting to know them.
But much like you, I do have some people on my “Do Not Disturb” list. These are an extreme minority. 1% might even be on the high side.
Surely you have encountered some wounded soul who inflicts their misery on others. Causing a scene, manipulating, slandering, guilting, and generally stinking up every room they enter.
Sometimes you have to deal with them, even on a regular basis. You may have confronted them, tried to fix them, and even prayed for them, all of which may have been appropriate, especially the later. But at some point, you realize that you can’t change them. And you really can’t.
As you debate what to do with these people in your world (hopefully only one person), may I suggest what one of my mentors suggested to me?
Put them on your “Do Not Disturb” list. And try not to disturb them.
Worth Repeating
The only people I’ve ever heard say that kindness doesn’t matter are the mean or abrasive people who just don’t get it.
