Singing reveals and jumpstarts a good mindset
Singing in the shower, humming while you walk down the sidewalk, or whistling a tune in the car…these all reveal good thinking. If you are worrying, fumbling with difficult decisions, or brooding generally, you are not very likely to be singing.
Of course, you aren’t going to be in a good mood all of the time. We seem to require some amount of irritability and frustration as part of life (some more than others). But, if you are stuck in a rut of bad thinking that leaves you feeling and acting worse than you’d prefer, make yourself sing.
Now, don’t sing along at the opera, but sing along with the radio. Or, just pick your favorite song and give a shower performance. Shower acoustics make everyone sound good…or at least better!
Right now, think of your three favorite songs of all time. I’ll wait.
Mine are What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, Stand By Me by Ben E. King, and Amazing Grace by John Newton. These songs redirect my thoughts and put a smile in my heart.
So, when you hit the mid day slump, summon a song and let it rip!
Worth Repeating
The only thing better than singing is more singing.
