Love Story Part One
I had been on campus about two weeks. As a transfer student, I had a fairly good idea of what it meant for me to be successful on a small college campus.
I had also seen and dated a lot of girls. Most were very similar as far as I was concerned. I was looking for someone special.
Then I saw her. Confident. Energetic. Long blondish hair with a small waist and intoxicating figure. She was not like the others. Sharp, witty, and not easily fooled by anyone. Hard to get.
Luckily, I was falling in with some of her friends, and this meant that our paths were crossing. So, I had multiple occasions to notice her, to admire her (probably not as subtly as I imagined.) She does not recall the first time we met in the library. I recall it well.
Smitten. That may be the only word for it.
“It’s enough to say she was lovely,” as the poet once said. I had to get to know her better. And so I did. As far as dating, she said yes for a while, then no for a while, then yes again a couple of years later and on into the present, over 21 years later.
She caught my eye. And she still does.
Worth Repeating
Your outer beauty will capture the eyes, your inner beauty will capture the heart.
