What moves you?

1. Hurting enough to change. When the pain of your current situation becomes bad enough, you will do something different. It’s not the best reason to change, but it is one of the most effective reasons.

2. Being Bored. Interesting, huh? This is actually similar to the first, but driven more by exasperation. I have known people who changed low energy to high energy habits of fitness, career, and volunteerism.

3. Discovering that you can. Some folks just haven’t ever given themselves permission to try new things or committed to do their very best. You might be surprised by what you could do! Examples: a 40 year old who took a stand up comedy class and launched a new career; a 60 year old who became an exercise instructor; and 65 year old who started leading a support group.

What moves you? What needs to change? Take a moment to inventory your pain, your boredom, and your interests. The answer to a new era may lie just behind your eyes.

Worth Repeating

Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.
