Tackle your problems with determination
Some tasks, some goals, some dreams seem so distant and complex that we assume they are out of reach. But as I heard from one of my favorite authors and entrepreneurs, Chris Guillebeau, recently, everything is figure-out-able.
When my son was 4, he stepped on and seriously maimed the Wii remote. Since I had been asking him repeatedly not to leave it on the floor, this seemed like a good time for tough love. No new Wii remote. You’ll have to wait till birthday or Christmas. (It was the secondary remote anyway.)
Half an hour later, I walk past our study to find him hunkered over the laptop. At 4 years old, he had googled “how to fik you wii remoke.” And this grammatically flawed yet impressive search had yielded a youtube tutorial.
So, we watched the tutorial and he fixed the wii remote! Baffled and proud, I said, “Son, if you can figure out how to fix problems like this, you will never be out of work in your life!”
Everything is figure-out-able.
This does not necessarily mean that the end result will be perfect or painless. But, there is a next best step to take. There are people to ask, approaches to try, and new ways to think about problems. There is a way forward. Someone has done this before, or at least done something similar enough to be helpful.
Tackle your problems with determination, and you will figure out the next right thing to do.
