Nurture a healthy brain #2
Did you know that we tend to think the same thoughts over and over? Our self talk gets in a rut. We wake up, get ready, go to work, slog through emails, go to meetings, etc. with many of the same thoughts accompanying us on most days.
What if you created a “best thoughts playlist?”
I actually have multiple files in my evernote app on my phone filled with my better thoughts. It’s the first thing I do every morning. Click one of these lists and consider a few (or 20) of my better thoughts.
For instance, I have an “upward spiral” playlist with 7 items:
- I live my best fit.
- I enjoy providing for my family and friends.
- I enjoy leading and serving people.
- I inspire people every day.
- I generate more than enough through inspiration, encouragement, and help.
- I save 10% or more of every dollar I make.
- I live lean and clean.
And, I do these things. I think these thoughts and they remind me of my best intentions. To the 95%+ degree, I live in harmony with these thoughts. Perfectly ? No. Better than before? Yes. I have been experimenting with this for about 3 years. I also have best thought playlists on “Gifts I see myself giving,” “110 that reasons that my goals are happening,” “Always be thankful for…” and more.
Sound silly? I don’t think so. By intentionally introducing and focusing on better thoughts, your mind will gradually pull out of the slog of bad thoughts and into the light of fresh, motivating, energizing thought. Better yet, you tend to do and become what you think about!
Maybe it’s time to create your own “Best Thoughts Playlist.”
