Identifying Priorities
In his book Half Time, Bob Buford tells the story of strategic planning consultant Mike Kami and his experience in the 80’s with Coca Cola executives. They were releasing “New Coke” and after many positive taste tests had launched it only to experience a marketing debacle.
You remember this, right? Their assumption was that great taste was the most important thing; it was in the box. But, they were wrong. So, Mike Kami worked with them some more and they concluded that something else should go in the box: American tradition. So, they soon recovered and we don’t even think about “New Coke” anymore.
What’s in your box? What is most important? What drives all other decisions and makes sense of your life when everything squares with that one thing that is in your box?
Faith? Family? Freedom? Career? Mission? Love?
Identify what’s in your box and you will align your life with your highest priorities.
Worth Repeating
The game is won or lost in the second half, not the first.
