Cathartic Conundrums
The backdoor to gratitude is always unlocked.
If you think more in terms of absence than presence, you are well on your way to a contented smile and maybe even a silent chuckle to yourself.
What are you glad didn’t happen? What jobs, tasks, or situations are you happy not to be doing any more? Is there a habit from which you’ve broken free? Toxic relationships that don’t show up in your routine?
I do this on a regular basis, at least monthly. When I can’t seem to summon “front door” gratitude for what is, I think about things that are not, or are no more. And I smile. Almost every time. It’s really quite amusing to take this approach.
Granted this is more of a plan B than a plan A.
How are you thankful for what’s not?
Worth Repeating
At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
