Unlikely moments of hope #2

Yes. It is easy to find the problems, the inconsistencies, the holes in the arguments. Yes. It is easy to find flaws in people and it is easy to locate reasons that all hope should be lost. Like most of us, you have probably been trained academically, professionally, or just by habitual life experience to notice and dwell on the bad. So, you can be as miserable as you wish to be. Or. You can find the good.

You can scour the problem until you see the glimmer of light. You can observe annoying people until you discover their own unique beauty. You can forgive peoples’ logical inconsistencies in their politics, theology, and behavior. While you’re on the subject, go ahead and forgive your own. Upon closer and fairer reflection, you may find more than you wish to uncover.

Find the good and you’ll be better. Don’t ignore the problems; limit your obsession with the problems.

Exert real emotional and intellectual prowess by generating grace and love and hope. And as you do, you may just find yourself experiencing more unlikely moments of hope as you dwell on the good.

Practice:
Designate one hour. Refuse the negative thoughts and comments. Seek the good. For just one hour, then expand the time frame.

Worth Repeating
I think perhaps love thrives on unlikely circumstance and chance…
