“You have to see it to believe it.” Isn’t this how we normally think of it?
But today, I’d like to share 7 things that must be believed to be seen. As you glance over these you may push back a bit, but I challenge you to consider the crucial part that belief plays in each of these.
- A Vision. Pretty much any vision. Personal or organizational. If you don’t believe it at some level, it’s pretty hard to envision.
- The Real Santa Claus. Have you ever heard a child dismiss “fake Santas” but almost come unglued upon a sighting of the real one?
- True Love. This one’s a bit slippery. I guess you could argue for witnessing acts of love, and clearly, action will accompany true love. But, I also think this requires a strong dose of belief to witness it.
- Rudolph Guiding Santa’s Sleigh. Radio towers offer perfect opportunities for moments of wonder for little skeptics or the true believers!
- The Real Easter Bunny. You’ve seen the costumes. I even wore an Easter Bunny costume one year for children! And for some of them, I was the real deal. By the way, the most entertaining part of this experience was sitting in the passenger seat of a small truck as I was chauffeured around the city. My driver was embarrassed as we received gawks and stares, but not I. I had a costume and mask on!
- Beauty Within Yourself. With some prompting, most of us can begin to see it. With belief, you will see it!
- God. You can mount the evidence on either side of the pro-God and no-God arguments and it has been done ad nauseam. But at the end of the arguments, you will see what you believe.
*I ran this post in 2014, but it seemed like a good time to post it again.
