People You Notice #1
She has a quiet demeanor,
Observant, peaceful, and curious,
Allowing the conversation of others to dominate.
But when she does get a word in,
It is profound.
She cares for her husband well,
Through many years of Parkinson’s,
On a slow, downward spiral,
Helping him in and out of cars and buildings,
Making sure he keeps his appointments.
In rare moments of conversation,
She tells of vacation trips,
And adventures with their Bible class friends,
Advancing through life together for over fifty years,
She delights in the re-telling of precise details.
In a crowd she easily goes unnoticed and unheard,
Her silence misinterpreted and misunderstood,
But the depth of her character and thoughts,
Reveal wisdom, persistence, and love,
And I am glad that I noticed her along the way.
Worth Repeating
Silence is the language of the wise.
