Adjustments #2

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Not sure about you, but I am very successful at growing weeds.

Why is it that we struggle to nurture the grass, trees, and planted flowers in our yards and gardens, but the weeds seem to thrive best of all?

What is the difference between the weed and the wildflower anyway? According to Gardener’s World, “a weed is just a plant growing in the wrong place.”

Often the only difference between a weed and a wildflower is in the eye of the beholder. Wildflowers inspire in us a sense of serendipity, while weeds merit only disdain. I guess.

But how many mothers have received beautiful bouquets of weeds from their toddlers, then nurtured them lovingly and placed them in a vase and place of prominence in the home?

The weed and the wildflower remind us that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Worth Repeating

As we grow old, the beauty steals inward.
