End of summer reminders
Not every day is full of “bluebirds on your shoulder.”
Problem finders, negative people, and fussy folks bump into us. Surgeries, procedures and setbacks arise as well. Stuff happens. Not all of it ideal.
Create beautiful moments anyway.
Take a moment, take a hike, or take someone you love on an ice cream date.
One of the most life-giving habits for our family has been the date/adventure. Twice a month, I take my daughter and my wife on dates, and I take my son on adventures. As they have grown older and their schedules have grown more crowded, I sometimes settle for once a month. Nevertheless, this rhythm has been crucial for us.
From smoothies to movies to hikes and bike rides, these outings allow for 1 on 1 time. Yes, we must ruthlessly carve these into the schedule. Sometimes I should be doing a chore or accomplishing some other task. But, this is more important.
After almost 17 years of my wife living with a chronic condition (Dermatomyositis), we are still determined to create beautiful moments ANYWAY!
I hope you find ways to generate beauty, even in the midst of less than ideal circumstances.
