Asking Better Questions #3

Bring to mind a current challenge. Where there is fog and a lack of clarity, a well designed question can often help you put your finger on the pulse of the problem.

With a bent toward action and responsibility, you get away from blaming and despair. You may ask these of yourself or of someone else across a myriad of conundrums. Perhaps you will find that one of the following questions helps you cut through the fog.

  1. What’s the real challenge here for you?
  2. What assumptions am I making?
  3. What am I responsible for?
  4. How else can I think about this?
  5. How can I help?
  6. What are my choices?
  7. What is the right thing to do right now?
  8. What action steps make most sense?
  9. What am I missing or avoiding?
  10. What is possible?

Focus on one or two that resonate with you. Dig deeper. Listen.

May the fog around you begin to lift.
