Love Story #3
For 700 years, they’ve been holding hands.
According to news reports a few years ago, “Archaeologists in England digging at a 14th century burial site made an unexpected discovery: A couple buried together holding hands had remained that way all this time.” Further evidence from surrounding skeletons suggests a violent or at least dismal situation leading to their deaths and burial.
700 years.
Why?
The scene points to desperation. You’re probably already ahead of me in assuming that one of these people grasped the hand of the other prior to their last breath.
Fear. Love. Comfort. This shocking, yet compelling find is loaded with the kind of sentiment that causes us to stop and reflect.
Desperately, lovingly, holding hands in the grimmest of circumstances.
It kind of makes you want to grab the hand of someone you love…and mean it.
Worth Repeating
Immature love says I love you because I need you. Mature love says I need you because I love you.
