Do you have days that seem like a whirlwind? Teetering on two wheels, out of control, fast moving days, when it seems difficult to focus and accomplish anything intentionally? Perhaps some of these ideas will help:

1. Turn your email off. Only open it at certain times of the day. This is more difficult than it seems, because some of the tasks you need to work on require email in between those times. But, simply turning it off for a few hours, can create a sense of calm.

2. Adjust the notification settings on your phone. If you don’t want to be disturbed by every email, push notification, text, tweet, etc., adjust your settings. Utilize the Do Not Disturb feature on your phone.

3. Think one. One thing, one task, one hour, one day.

4. Clean your workspace. A clean, organized workspace or desk area can generate a sense of order in the midst of busyness.

5. Prioritize your day. Identify 1-3 tasks that MUST be done and are the most important, whether urgent or not, and do those first.

My life seems to be an ongoing experiment is these areas, but these tactics contribute to simplicity and eliminate unnecessary stressors. I hope these ideas help you as well.
