New Year Prep #4
When you accomplish something big in 2023, how will you celebrate? When you execute on a new habit or rhythm, how will you mark this grand achievement? Too often, you may be tempted to overindulge to the point that the celebration seems unsatisfactory. Or, celebration is such an afterthought that you don’t do it justice.
Consider these 10 Ways to Celebrate:
1. Reflect. After weeks, months or perhaps years working toward a goal, be quiet and reflect on what has been accomplished.
2. Express gratitude. Most summits require some support. Say “thank you” to those who helped make it possible.
3. Practice self care. Indulge in something that is good and good for you.
4. Organize a party. Make a plan. Call your people. Do something special.
5. Go for a great celebratory meal. This is the time to take it all in. Don’t rush the meal, rather order the extra item and savor the moment.
6. Take the day off. Just be sure to make it count.
7. Splurge on something you want. Even a $5 to $20 treat can help mark this triumph. Or, perhaps this is the time to go big!
8. Take a road trip. The routine got you here. Now, break the routine and enjoy an adventure.
9. Dance. No skill required, just music.
10. Plant something new in the garden. To commemorate this success in a way you’ll never forget, plant a tree or some significant perennial.
You can probably create your own unique ways to celebrate, but give some thought to these and add some value to your celebration.
What do you anticipate celebrating in the coming year?
