Receiving Peace #1
Whether or not you consider yourself religious, the experience of adversity soon leads you into inherently spiritual terrain. Like most of you, I do not wake up every morning with the proverbial bluebirds of joy and serenity on my shoulder. They must be coaxed there.
Over the years of grappling with my own shortcomings and living through unexpected challenges, I have found that I must do intentional work daily to return to my better thoughts. These exercises help me create a space to welcome and nurture those better thoughts.
Navigating adversity can be taxing on the soul.
If you equip yourself with a full toolbox of spiritual exercises, you can create good habits that sustain you through hardship. While some tools require significant effort, most of the prayers, exercises and contemplations in my new book are easily accessible. Sometimes, you need to linger with a prayer or blessing. Other times, you need a more focused spiritual exploration or deep reflection.
In this new book, you will find 39 exercises to help you create calm. Whether you engage each one for 3 minutes or 3 months, I trust that you will find many of them to be as useful as they have been for me.
I invite you to join me in these daily practices so you always have enough for the day as you put yourself in a position to receive peace!
Worth Repeating
Peace is not something you wish for. It is something you make, something you are, something you do, and something you give away.
