New Book! Receiving Peace #4
Today, you have enough. Enough love, enough energy, enough courage to get to the end of the day and manage everything that comes your way…at least for today.
No, you may not feel like it at the moment. I found this exercise hard to receive at first. I did not believe it. Still, as I practiced it over the course of days, I began to receive it to the point that I no longer flinch at all. I simply receive enough for the day.
You may be familiar with the ages-old story of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness after escaping Egyptian rule. They were hungry and as the narrative explains, God provided manna each morning for them to eat. However, they could not hoard a week’s worth or even two days’ worth. But every morning, there was always enough for that day.
An overwhelming sense of not enough manifests as despair. The angst is palpable. Worry dominates and anxiety runs rampant in the corridors of your mind. It’s just no good.
Thinking and feeling that you have enough calms the soul, builds better perspective, and dissolves anxiety. Sometimes the enough that you have is less physical reality and more spiritual, mental and emotional confidence. But often, you actually do have enough for this day…even physically, tangibly.
At first, this prayer may be a challenge. I did not believe it for several days and even felt silly attempting it. As I continued to practice this prayer walking through the early morning refreshment of our neighborhood greenbelt, I began to believe better. Now, I lean on this prayer at least weekly, and I have no doubts that God is giving me enough for the day. I trust that you will too.
