Places #2
Just a few years ago, my good friend John and I went to an OKC Thunder NBA basketball game as we do each season. We parked for free on the sketchy side of the arena in a vacant lot, with abandoned buildings, broken glass and a general atmosphere that makes you look over your shoulder.
Today, this same area has been entirely transformed with several high-end restaurants, an Omni hotel, the new convention center and Scissortail Park. As often as I can, I slip down to walk the park trails. With views of innovation all around me, I am inspired. The native landscaping and water features set the tone for a reflective, receptive mode. And I gladly align my thoughts with the vibe of this recreated spot.
Vision for what others can’t yet see. Collaboration with a potent cadre of professionals, each bringing their expertise to the design and functionality of this space. It took a lot to transform this area, and I am left with gratitude and a sense of inspiration to innovate in my own ways.
Do you have a place that inspires you to embrace and appreciate innovation? Perhaps you think of a new museum, restaurant, or venue. Go there as often as you can and allow the energy of that environment to re-charge your own sense of innovation.
Worth Repeating
Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things.
