Freedom of Discipline #1

No one may notice, but you will know. When you do that difficult thing or complete that life giving habit, you can smile, knowing that you have done the right thing though it may go unseen.

One of the common denominators of success in any area of life is to form the habit of doing what most people don’t like to do. Whether your quest is related to your diet, exercise, spiritual engagement, work tasks, investing, or anything else, you will do best as you exercise your discipline muscle. And yes, it is a muscle that requires exercise, recovery and relentless practice.

As with all muscles, you work up to your goal. Start small. Count small wins. When discipline fails, turn the page and start again. Carry on and pursue your goal.

Most likely, you will begin to consistently do difficult, but crucial tasks that no one may ever see. As you live into the increasing freedom of discipline, you can savor the quiet joy of unseen victories.

Worth Repeating

Small, daily, seemingly insignificant improvements, when done consistently over time, yield staggering results.
