Summer Sightings #1
At 85 years old, he drives a convertible and smiles a lot.
He is one of my favorite people with Parkinson’s. In his career, he managed and led hundreds of people in a multi-state regional area, which surely entailed significant stress. These days, he goes from one Parkinson’s exercise and therapy program to another. And so far, he is managing quite well.
Early this summer, he brought his dog to our Parkinson’s Walk Fundraising event at Wheeler Ferris Wheel in OKC. Both decked out in the Walk t-shirt, he and Murray (the dog) found their way into many people’s pictures.
I paused for a moment in the hectic craziness of running a large event to observe him snacking and sharing snacks with Murray. This snapshot (which you see above) stuck with me.
Amidst the swirl of activity with hundreds of people, one man and his dog rest into the moment, enjoying the people, the food, the music and the hoopla. This reminds me to slow down, observe and receive, even in the midst of chaos. Perhaps especially in the midst of chaos.
