Summer Sightings #2

She dropped her ice cream.

Three-year-old reasoning ensued. Mom was busy with the baby in the stroller, her back turned. The dog was quick to act, swooping in to start licking the dropped ice cream.

Still no crying, just thinking. From my seat inside the ice cream shop in OKC’s Bricktown by the canal, I observed what unfolded outside the window near the benches under a tree.

Swatting the dog away from the ice cream, she looked around and made her move. Picking up a handful of ice cream off the pavement, she resumed eating her summer treat! The dog finished off the rest of what was left behind. I watched in admiration and full delight. No tears, just solutions.

Finally, Mom finished with baby and turned around, confused about where the cone went. Since the dog had eliminated all evidence of a spill, Mom shrugged and laughed as her daughter licked her fingers and off they went.

I think the only people who truly know what happened are the little girl, the dog, me and now you!

Worth Repeating

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.
