Servant Leadership #1
Do you have a “helpfulness bias?” Are you seeking to add value and help others in almost every situation? If so, you probably have influence.
Are you able to champion other people? When they pursue a goal, can you truly be happy for them and find ways to support them without turning it into a competition? Can you be someone’s cheerleader, equipper and touchstone for empowerment?
Do you have something to offer to help someone grow? Perhaps you have expertise, experience or connections.
If you are in a position of leadership, do you role model the way? What if your people did what you did? Would your group or organization be better?
The impulse to add value and be helpful to other people is indicative of a helpfulness bias. Often help comes in the form an insightful question. Sometimes you deliver it with tangible resources. Either way, helpfulness is at the core of servant leadership.
Who can you be helpful to today?
