Keep the mission before you and your team. Remember why you do what you do.

When you come back to the point, the purpose, the mission of any endeavor, you bring clarity to the craziness. When you tell the stories that epitomize the point, you remember why you do what you do.

In the course of the life of any group, people get bored, annoyed, off track. It happens. They call it “the grind” for a reason. 

As a person of influence in your group, business or organization, you can help people remember the purpose. If you are in charge of other people, this is one of your greatest responsibilities of servant leadership. 

Many leadership experts have spoken eloquently to this point, but perhaps one of the best in recent years is Simon Sinek. He says, “People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it. You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.”


When you remember your “why,” your work or your volunteer efforts will make infinitely more sense and renew your energy.
