Defining Your Values #3

Family, Friendship, Adventure, Nature & Art…these are fundamental to my joy in life.

You probably hold some of these very close as well. Carving out time and energy for regular engagement in areas that you value feeds your joy and better equips you to share it with others.

Family is on most people’s list. You experience the wide spectrum of life with family. From big wins and accomplishment to failure and disappointment on to boredom and the routines of life, you probably do the bulk of it with your family.

Friendship is the next likely setting for talking, laughing, crying, confiding and experiencing life together. Some people have many friends; some just a few. But, take time to be grateful for the friends in your life and decide how you can communicate your value for them.

Adventure is the fun stuff. It comes in many forms. Pursue your favorite versions of adventure such as hiking, dining out, traveling or a million other ways.

Nature has the capacity to reset your perspective. It is quite rare to walk by an ocean, lake or river without connecting to peace. Likewise, kayaking, fishing, sailing, biking, birding, gardening and more provide touch points with nature.

Art in all of its forms stimulates better thought and contemplation. Whether you are enjoying music, theater, dance, craft or visual art or creating it, this is an area of life to enjoy.

If some of these resonate with you, decide how you can engage more fully to feed your joy and share it with others.

Worth Repeating

Find a place inside where there’s joy and the joy will burn out the pain.
