Destinations #3
Imagine yourself nearing the finish line of a long race. Though it may have been years since you even ran, visualize yourself completing a 5k run. You’re exhausted. You can hear footsteps pounding behind you. You see people up ahead cheering. You just want it to be over.
Then, you kick into one final sprint. You pull ahead of your competition. You find a second wind, and cross the finish line running at full speed, never letting up until you come to the water table. That’s a strong finish!
Whatever destination, project or goal you have set in your mind to achieve, choose to finish strong. You got started and you kept going. You have even pushed through that slog in the middle and reminded yourself of why you are doing this. Now, it’s time to complete what you set out to do.
Near the end, you are tempted again to quit, to give up, to abandon the endeavor. You’re so tired. You’ve experienced setbacks. You wonder if this was even the right thing to do.
But raise your eyes to the finish line. We’re cheering you on. This is a worthy goal. There is a reason you set out and kept going. You can do it. You can find your second wind.
You can finish strong.
Worth Repeating
It’s not so important who starts the game, but who finishes it.
