Calm in the Storm
Light is everywhere. Often though, our minds enter a pattern of fumbling in the dark. It gets depressing, quite literally. So, where can we find the light again? How do we re-emerge to the life we want to be living?
- In the eyes of another. Look intentionally and you will see the light in the eyes of another person. You don’t even have to be weird about it. Just notice. Appreciate the light in their eyes.
- On the water. This light reflects the light of the sky. Perhaps the moonlight, the early morning or late evening sun. Find a pond, lake, or river and look for the light. Receive.
- Flickering in a fire. Whether from the fireplace, campfire, outdoor fire pit, or some other form, gaze into the fire. It’s mesmerizing, soothing, and uniquely calming.
- In the night sky. When is the last time you stepped outside to peer up at the stars? If your mind is stuck in dark rhythms, create 5 minutes to consider the stars and the vastness of the universe.
- Beaming in through a window. Break your normal screen focus. Turn it off for a moment. Look for the light shining through a window. Notice how it illuminates and warms.
Certainly, there are many more places to find the light. But, if you sense gloom and darkness, take some intentional time to notice the light.
Receive the light.
Welcome the light.
Worth Repeating
Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness.
