Mountaintops #2

What mountain are you climbing?  Perhaps you are preparing for a literal mountain climb.  More likely, your climb is related to a season or era of life calling upon your endurance to complete the caregiving task, get your child through college, reach a financial goal, finish a long-term work project, lose the weight, or something similar to these.

Having climbed several mountains (literal and metaphorical), I find these things to be true:

1. Effort is required to climb mountains.  Seriously, it’s hard work and that’s okay. If it wasn’t tough, everyone would be doing it.

2. Climbing smaller mountains prepares you to climb taller mountains. Discipline and work are muscles that must be exercised to grow.

3. The rewards of mountain climbing are many, but they include:

  • The view
  • The perspective
  • Satisfaction of accomplishment
  • Peace and quiet
  • Realized hope
  • Gratitude for the climb
  • Meeting with God on the mountaintop
  • And many more.

Whatever mountain you’re climbing, keep going!  You can do it.  One step after another.  You’ll be glad you did because it’s worth it.

Worth Repeating

Every mountaintop is within reach if you just keep climbing.
