Glimpses of Care #2

The silent heroics of those who care for a loved one take many forms. If you identify with any of the following, know that you are seen and appreciated:

  • Accompanying your person on doctor’s visits and asking the questions no one wants to ask.
  • Standing by and assisting your loved one with eating, bathing, and going to the toilet.
  • Waiting in the pharmacy line and/or researching to find a semi-affordable option.
  • Keeping your cool and responding kindly the 17th time your Alzheimer’s patient asks the same question.
  • Putting your plans on hold to be available and be with your loved one.

This list could easily go on, but in these seemingly mundane examples, you can see the silent heroics of those who care.

If this is you, thank you. If this is someone you know, offer a tangible way to lighten their load.

Worth Repeating

The simple act of caring is heroic.
