Cooking, entertaining, shopping, giving, overeating…these elements tend to dominate the week of Christmas. So, enjoy!

But, may I suggest that you intentionally carve out some space for solitude and reflection as well. Perhaps this could happen when guests are gone and the hoopla is done, or maybe you would enjoy the hecticity (that should be a word) more if you do this prior to the melee of activity.

Whether early in the morning or late at night, in a quiet reading nook or walking down a field road, stop to meditate and contemplate questions like these…

What happened in 2013 that I am grateful for?
What did I learn this year?
What am I proud of myself for doing this past year?
Who or what moments do I treasure most?
Add or create your own thoughts and questions for reflection, but don’t let the season pass you by without indulging in solitude and meditation. You’ll be glad you did.
