verb: to take action on something you are prone to procrastinate
Stacks of unpaid bills. Home repair projects. Exercise plans. Difficult work tasks. Conflict-laden conversations.
These are the kinds of things we tend to procrastinate doing.
So, what if you decide to de-crastinate?
No, I don’t think that is an actual word, but what if you tackled some item each day or each week that you would rather put off till later?
I have found that I feel better about doing what I don’t feel like doing, than I do about not doing what I know I need to do. I have even inserted de-crastination into my weekly rhythm. Why? Because I am so tempted to procrastinate, to wait till I feel like it, which is unlikely.
Here’s a tip: try the 20 minute exercise. Set your phone’s timer to 20 minutes, and focus on one task. Determine to work on something for 20 minutes. Then, take a walk, take a break, grab some coffee. Repeat the 20 minutes as many times as you can.
Today, think of one item that you’ve been procrastinating on and set aside 20 minutes to de-crastinate!
Worth Repeating
Action is the foundational key to all success.
