Cathartic Conundrums

Faith in yourself, in other people, in God. You apply what you’re thinking of. Over the years, faith in any of these and more can not only be tested, but sometimes lost, reshaped, and rediscovered multiple times.

Could it be that you…

Lost faith in yourself, but in a moment of quietude, realized that you were holding yourself to unrealistic expectations and began to find it again?

Got burned by other people and withdrew to protect yourself, and in the loneliness of resentment found that everyone is flawed and the only way to be connected is with a least a modicum of vulnerability?

Thought that you lost faith in God, but later discovered that your problem was with the system you were in?

It takes not a small bit of courage, honesty, and grace to admit these things even to yourself, and perhaps even more to make a move back onto this charred ground. But as you do, you may just find faith close to where you lost it. Faith in yourself, in other people, in God.

Worth Repeating

To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don’t grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float.
