Fresh Air

Cooped up, out of seasonal routines, and needing fresh air. This is how most of us have felt during Corona season. But, there are still moments to savor. You may, however, need to make them happen. Consider putting yourself in some of these positions:

  1. Ride with the windows down on a country road. Preferably in the cooler air of the early morning or late evening, but turning off the air conditioner and letting the wind blow through what’s left of your hair might just help you enjoy this moment as much as your dog!
  2. Leave an unexpectedly generous tip even for takeout or in the drive-thru. No comment necessary. Just be thankful you can share some extra bucks with someone whose income has most likely been affected.
  3. Flip through old pictures. On your phone or in an album, stop and linger on your favorites.
  4. Take one of your favorite books off the shelf and review highlighted passages or turned down pages. Remember why this meant so much to you at the time.
  5. Send a silent prayer of blessing to anyone. It could be someone under your roof, someone in the car next to you, or someone on the other end of a text or email. Pray for them what you would pray for yourself. Love, joy, peace, prosperity, courage, perseverance, hope, help, etc.
  6. Smell the fresh cut grass. Even in the heat of summer, linger with that common moment you catch a whiff of grass clippings. Where does it take you?
  7. Donate or send tangible encouragement to support a cause greater than yourself. Know you’re doing the right thing, and be appreciative for the opportunity to make a difference in the right direction.
