Thanksgiving #2
If something appreciates, it grows. For instance, an investment can appreciate, rise, increase. Of course, it may not appreciate. It may go down, plummet or stall out.
The same thing happens to your mental and spiritual wellbeing when you exercise your appreciation muscle. You activate positive energy; you generate better thoughts. When you neglect to carve out space for appreciation, your mental and spiritual energy follows into malaise.
Choose the better path! Here’s a quick way to do that:
Past. Recall and savor 3 things from your past that you appreciate. For example, I am thankful for the schools our children attended, the vacations we have enjoyed, and the work I have done.
Present. What stirs gratitude about your current realities? Perhaps you are thinking of a good friend, something you have recently learned, or some specific aspect of your home. Articulate 3.
Future. As you gaze into the coming days or years of the not yet, can you visualize a likely joy, opportunity or moment of peace? Can you see yourself smiling? Capture 3 in your mind’s eye.
Your wellbeing appreciates as you appreciate.
Worth Repeating
A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.
